Most definitely enjoyed. I knew AB was going to prove a point or two at rmac Again well done Francis.
I have learned such a lot from AB i wanted to give you some of what I have learned shooting different fx pcp’s.
As ambient temperature increases regulator pressure will decrease and vice versa. That is why i keep my reg pressure stable as possible by adjusting when needed.
Even if you keep regulator pressure constant, muzzle velocity will change as ambient temperature changes -every time this happens, i think of what Brian said in one of your podcast episodes about lead expanding and contracting.
Herewith an example – 25 39 g JSB KNOCK OUT slugs .217 at stable 18 degrees celsius fx mark 3, 1:14 twist 985 fps
The next day the muzzle velocity decreased and only stabilized at 885 fps when ambient temperature stabilized at 11 degrees celsius
Mike.
First I want to congratulate Francis on his second place. I think it’s a very good achievement considering the relatively short experience of shooting with an airgun and it also confirmed to me that in PRS much more depends on the general shooting skills , as opposed to for example benchrest shooting, where a large part of the success is due to the shooting system.
You also said what I’ve been saying for a couple of years. Why are there nonsensical rules in RMAC, Extrem Benchrest and other competitions that only limit shooters and slow down the development of the entire sport.
I’m talking in particular about bans on slug use or minimum power restrictions for example for Big bore competitions at longer distances.
You don’t need big bore to shoot at 500-1000 yards with airgun, even .22 caliber is more than adequate and more accurate than these big bore.
Unfortunately, these rules were created many years ago and are still followed more or less out of habit or perhaps because of intervention by some manufacturers or seller.
The only way to change this is to talk about it and direct these questions to the managers of these competitio.
With kind regards
Altaros
